Umar Farooq

Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) governed an empire of more than two million square miles for roughly ten years — and is remembered for patching his own clothes, sleeping in the open, and being reachable by anyone with a grievance.

That contrast is the substance of the book: a ruler holding near-unlimited authority who held himself to a far higher standard than the one he set for anyone else, and who took every decision back to the Qur'an.
