Stories of the Prophets

Ibn Kathir's account of the Prophets named in the Qur'an — the standard reference on the subject, and the source most later retellings draw from.

He builds each life from the Qur'an, authentic hadith and early historical sources, and marks where the evidence is weaker rather than smoothing over it. That rigour is why it's used by students and researchers as much as it's read straight through.
